The Hickory Ridge Mall wasn't much of a mall anymore. Since the tornado had taken out a large portion of it in 2008, it never quite returned to it's former glory. It was now owned by a church, World Overcomers, who had taken it's different wings/corridors and turned them into individualized suites and addresses that weren't official. There were tons of dead stores and a majority of the tenants were probably being used as pawns in a giant tax evasion scheme. There were many seemingly non-operational non-profit businesses that were more than likely connected to the church itself. Most of the shops had cheap, half-ass signage and no people to operate the different storefronts. I was at Ernest Fields Screen Print & Apparel (and Millionaire Grind's brand store was right next door) where we were located at 3752 S. Hickory Ridge Mall, which wasn't even a real address. I can't remember our exact suite number associated with the real address off the mall, but there's no telling what was real and wasn't reported on their end. To this day, I still wonder exactly what was happening with the ownership there... Either way, the mall was dystopian to say the least. A majority of the corridors completely abandoned or shut off with the classic "spooky" lighting all around. After all, they had to conserve electricity since there were so few actual tenants. Some of the wings that were operational smelled strongly of mold. The owners didn't care about their building, at least not enough to actually invest their own money into it. I'm sure there weren't any legitimate profits to report due to the scope of businesses and the size of the facility.
