We made the move to the Perkins and Knight Rd. location (632 S. Perkins, Suite 2 and for a short time Suite 1) simply for production's sake. Ernest had invested in purchasing an automatic printing press and it just wasn't going to fit in the little space in the mall, not to mention there was zero airflow and ventilation. We'd be high or dead in a heartbeat trying to squeeze everything into that small room.
The Perkins location was nicer than the mall by a long shot. We had a large bay door in the back, plenty of ventilation and the proper electrical needed for a 3 phase auto press. It seemed pretty perfect at the time and felt like we were actually upgrading, although it cost a lot and put Ernest in more debt (although I don't know if that's true looking back). I had my corner desk at the front and he had his office right next to the podcast room. The embroidery room was right next to his office and the photo room across the hall. It wasn't large but it got the job done. The studio would end up across from the embroidery room, which is when things started to go sour, or rather, I started to notice more...
For a while, we had an additional suite in this small business park, where we had a tiny venue area and 2 small offices in the back. Those were some of my fondest days since I had my own office to work in, but that was short lived due to the entire world nearly collapsing over make believe viruses and scare tactics. Despite how everything started to go sideways in the following years, I still look back on these times as some of the most stressful, but best...if you can even say you had best times finding out you were just a pawn in the end...
