I always thought Satan had authority over the kingdoms of this world, as he offered them to Jesus, but this is just a trick, another deception from the father of lies. Jesus, on the other hand, doesn't immediately claim authority, but rather, servanthood.
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”
Matthew 4:8-9 ESV
Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”
Matthew 4:10 ESV
It is the LORD your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear.
Deuteronomy 6:13 ESV
Not only did Yeshua (Jesus) serve the Father (LORD / YHWH / Yahweh) throughout his earthly ministry, he serves us, by way of his sacrifice.
Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all and ordered them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles. He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets; a bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory; and in his name the Gentiles will hope.”
Matthew 12:15-21 ESV
For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs,
Romans 15:8 ESV
But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:25-28 ESV
But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
Luke 22:26-27 ESV
So who is this Son of Man that serves all? Surprisingly, it's the Father, Yahweh, not just serving himself and showing what it means to lead by serving, but ultimately serving us, through the embodiment of Yeshua (Jesus / Salvation), in his life, death, resurrection and future return.
I am the LORD; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.
Isaiah 42:8 ESV
How can the LORD (YHWH / Yahweh) give glory to anyone but himself?
For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.
Matthew 16:27 ESV
If Jesus speaks with such words about his future return after conquering death, Yeshua must be the Father (YHWH / Yahweh) in the flesh, as the Father can bestow glory on none other than himself.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:5-11 ESV
So how can we serve the greatest servant?
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
