Jesus and the Father dwell within us as we love him and keep his words. Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. John 14:23 ESV Jesus' sacrifice made way for a special gift. As the Spirit guides us it glorifies Jesus and passes ownership to us until his return, making us representatives of him. “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. John 16:12‭-‬15 ESV As we (actively) await and prepare for his return, we have hope and a promise that we'll need nothing when he returns, that all will be made perfect. Until that day, he invites us to ask for anything in his name. So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:22‭-‬24 ESV For what do we ask? For money and things to glorify self? For knowledge and wisdom to puff up? Do we ask for the Father's will to be done and give up on running our own show? Whatever you ask, remember the power you hold in Jesus' name. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another. John 15:16‭-‬17 ESV Asking of the Father through Jesus' name is meant to help us love one another, not love ourselves more. What do we aks for in his name? If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:6‭-‬7 ESV There's no way to bear good fruit apart from the true vine, from Jesus. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:4‭-‬5 ESV Many have and will deny him, but nothing can be done apart from him as he's the physical manifestation of the Father. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” John 14:6‭-‬7 ESV He is the embodiment of YHWH. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:12‭-‬14 ESV Whatever we ask is ultimately for the Father's glory, that he may be glorified through our asking in Jesus' name. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14:26 ESV
